'Borderlands' Coming to Film
The popular video-game title 'Borderlands' is getting a film adaptation, courtesy of Liongate.
The 'Borderlands' franchise has spawned 3 games since its inception in 2009, and has sold over 26 million copies worldwide. The film is being developed as a tent-pole feature, and Avi and Ari Arad (producers of Spider-Man) are involved in the project.
The game series is set on a planet called Pandora, as players play the role of a vault hunter in search of the wealth only these legendary vaults can offer. It is a first-person shooter and includes character building elements.
With the recent release of 'Hitman: Agent 47', the video-game adaptation market isn't exactly thriving, nor has it ever really. With an 'Assassins Creed' film on its way though, companies clearly aren't steering away from it. They're well aware that there are great stories to be mined from the gaming sector.
