Cinemax Reveals Next Drama Series 'Quarry," a Gritty 70's Inspired Drama

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Cinemax is building an impressive portfolio for itself. The sister network to HBO is actually starting to show more potential than its oft-dominant older brother. In recent years, Cinemax has housed Steven Soderbergh's The Knick, as well as Banshee and, most recently, Robert Kirkman's horror series Outcast.

Next up, and with Banshee and The Knick having wrapped up earlier this year, is Quarry, which based on the first trailer has plenty of potential to be the next great hit for the network.

Based on the Max Allan Collins novels, and from Rectify's Graham Gordy and Michael D. Fuller, the series is being directed by Banshee's Greg Yaitanes and stars Logan Marshall-Green as Mac Conway.

Conway is “a Marine who returns home to Memphis from Vietnam in 1972 and finds himself shunned by those he loves and demonized by the public. As he struggles to cope with his experiences at war, Conway is drawn into a network of killing and corruption that spans the length of the Mississippi River.”

The series stars Jodi Balfour, Peter Mullan, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Damon Harriman, Jamie Hector, Edoardo Ballerini, and Skipp Sudduth. The series is set to premiere its 8-episode series with the pilot on September 9 at 10PM.
