Dad's Army: Classic TV Show Comes to the Big Screen
The year is 1944 and the Allies are on the brink of invading France and to finally defeat the Nazis. The men of the Home Guard on the small south coast town of Walmington-on-Sea are tasked with patrolling the Dover army base when Rose Winters, a glamorous reporter, came to do a story on their exploits and caused a stir in the close knit community. Furthermore, MI5 informed them that there is a Nazi spy in their midst who may disrupt the Allies plan. It is up to these gentlemen to save the day.
Dad's Army is based on a much-loved British television comedy of the same title which aired between 1968-1977. The cast for the movie can justifiably defined as stellar, with Toby Jones as the pompous Captain Mainwaring, Bill Nighy as Sergeant Wilson, Katherine Zeta Jones as Rose Winters and Michael Gambon as Private Godfrey. Mark Gattis will also appear as Colonel Theakes.
