'Feud: Bette and Joan' Top FX Premiere Numbers Since 'The People v O.J. Simpson'

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Feud: Bette and Joan has become FX's most-watched television premiere since The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story last year. Both shows hail from Ryan Murphy, whose shelf of anthology-styled series have become a staple for the network.

In Live+3 numbers, including the premiere as well as two encores, 5.17 million viewers in total tuned in. It's the highest for the network since The People v. O.J back on February 2, 2016, though that one pulled in 12 million viewers.

The series eclipsed recent X-Men series Legion's premiere in premiere numbers. Legion saw 3.27 million while Feud: Bette and Joan had 3.8 million viewers. It also outclassed Taboo, which had 3.43 million in front of screens.

FEUD: Bette and Joan tells the story of the legendary rivalry between Joan Crawford (Jessica Lange) and Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon) during their collaboration on the Academy Award®-nominated thriller What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? and well after the cameras stopped rolling. The series explores how the two women endured ageism, sexism, and misogyny while struggling to hang on to success and fame in the twilight of their careers.

The first episode was stylish and boasted some serious acting talent. The miniseries will be followed by a second season called Charles and Diana.
