First Trailer For Netflix's 'Hold The Dark' starring Jeffrey Wright, Riley Keough, Alexander Skarsgård
Jeremy Saulnier’s chilling follow up to 2016’s claustrophobic thriller Green Room, follows a retired wolf expert who becomes entangled in a dangerous triangle involving missing children, flesh-eating wolves, and an unstable father played by Alexander Skarsgård.
Netflix dropped the gritty first trailer for Jeremy Saulnier’s Alaskan-set thriller. Jeffrey Wright stars as wolf expert Russell Core, who is summoned to a remote Alaskan village to investigate the murders of three missing children, including the six-year-old son of Medora (Riley Keough) and Vernon (Alexander Skarsgård) Sloane.
According to a barely recognizable Riley Keough (Logan Lucky), her son Bailey was taken by wolves and her soon-to-be returning War vet husband (Skarsgård) is going to come home wanting answers. Unfortunately for Wright, those answers will come in the form of a maniacal pursuit at the hands of another icky but superb "dad" performance by Mr. Skarsgård.
Macon Blair, frequent Saulnier collaborator, penned the script based on William Giraldi’s 2014 novel of the same name. According to Saulnier, Blair’s script will be “faithful" to Giraldi's novel. Based on the trailer, it's safe to say Saulnier and Blair’s thriller should be an #onbrand experience.
Hold The Dark will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 12, and will debut on Netflix and in select theaters on Sept. 28.
