Gael Garcia Bernal Thriller 'Desierto' is set for an October Release
STX Entertainment has announced an October 14 release date in North America for the immigration thriller Desierto, starring Gael Garcia Bernal.
The film tackles the political issue that has come about in the wake of presidential candidate Donald Trump's proposal to build a wall at the U.S. - Mexico border to prohibit illegal immigration.
Directed by Gravity scribe Jonas Cuaron, the film also co-stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (of Watchmen and The Walking Dead fame). It received strong reviews in its Toronto Film Festival premiere last September.
The story launches with a hopeful journey to seek a better life and becomes a harrowing and primal battle for survival when a deranged, rifle-toting vigilante chases a group of unarmed men and women through the treacherous U.S.-Mexican border, where there's nowhere to hide.
