'Homeland' Season 6 Delayed, Showtime Nears Extra Two Seasons Renewal
Showtime is in the process of finalising a deal that will see Homeland return for 3 more seasons, which includes the upcoming, and not delayed, sixth year for the terrorism drama.
Season 6 has been pushed back to January 2017, as opposed to its usual September premiere. President and CEO of Showtime David Nevins made the announcement during a press call.
Star Claire Danes and showrunner Alex Gansa are both on board for the added seventh and eighth seasons, Nevins said.
“We are proud that Homeland has been so consistently recognized for its excellence with awards and critical acclaim, but we are in awe of how the series fearlessly mines the geopolitics of our complicated world and translates that into compelling human drama,” said David Nevins, President and CEO, Showtime Networks Inc.
“Under Alex Gansa’s brilliant leadership, Homeland has shown an uncanny ability to reinvent itself which makes us supremely confident that this show will remain as distinctive, relevant and cutting edge as anything on television for as long as these producers want to continue.”
After spending the last two seasons in South Africa and Berlin, Homeland will return to the U.S. to shoot season 6 in New York beginning August.
