'Jason Bourne' Earns Franchise Record with $12.3 Million Opening in China
Jason Bourne has taken $12.3 million on opening day in its China debut, the franchise's biggest opening in the Middle Kingdom ever and puts it on track to overtake The Bourne Legacy's overall tally.
Legacy earned $34.2 million in its time in China, earning $12.7 million over the course of its first four days. The worldwide take for Jason Bourne sits at $284.2 million, ahead of Legacy's $276 million.
The film still has 15 markets to open in. Up next is Mexico. The fifth film in the franchise saw the return of Matt Damon in the title role. Alicia Vikander also stars.
