Netflix Orders a Second Season for 'Marseille'
Netflix has renewed its first French original series for a second season. Marseille stars Gerard Depardieu, and the announcement came via the series' Twitter accoung.
“The fight is not over. #MarseilleNetflix, season 2, coming soon” (https://twitter.com/MarseilleSerie/status/739766770488246272).
We can expect Depardieu and co-star (and series antagonist) Benoit Magimel will return , though there is word on when we will see production commence or the cast involved.
Starring Depardieu as an over-the-hill Marseille Mayor, Robert Taro, whose groomed heir-apparent (Magimel) suddenly declares political war as elections loom, “Marseille” was slammed by French national critics. “It’s an artistic rout, an industrial failure, undoubtedly [Netflix’s ]first in-house dud,” wrote Pierre Langlais at Telerama.
It was reportedly the international reception that convinced Netflix to re-order the series.
