'Puff the Magic Dragon' Getting a Live-Action/Animated Hybrid Feature Film
The directors of Trolls are set to bring Puff the Magic Dragon to the big screen, as Fox Animation acquires the rights to turn the popular song into a feature film.
Trolls director Mike Mitchell has signed on for the live-action/animation hybrid. Coming in the aftermath of Pete's Dragon and The Jungle Book, it's small wonder that this new hybrid feature filmmaking technique is being eyed as something of the future. The producers have secured the rights t the lyrics of the song, so there's no cause for concern.
The song itself is based on a 1959 poem by Leonard Lipton. The song is the tale of an ageless dragon who lives by the sea in a fictional land. A little boy, who is his playmate, grows up and loses interest in his adventures, leaving the imaginary dragon alone.
