Rachel Weisz and David Harbour in talks to join Marvel's 'BLACK WIDOW'
These latest casting additions suggest there’s no turning back!
Marvel is eyeing none other than Rachel Weisz and David Harbour to join Scarlett Johansson’s long-gestating spy film BLACK WIDOW.
Variety first broke the news that Oscar-nominated actress - Rachel Weisz - entered early negotiations for an undisclosed role and that “talks are headed in that direction, with strong interest from both sides.” Additionally, The Hollywood Reporter was first to break the news that upcoming Hellboy star - David Harbour - is also in talks to join the cast in an undisclosed role!
If negotiations prove successful, Weisz and Harbour will join the MCU family along with Fighting With My Family breakout, Florence Pugh in an origin story that's speculated to take place before Johansson's KGB trained Natasha Romanoff joined the ranks as trusted SHIELD agent and badass AVENGER.
Marvel has been quietly pushing ahead with the long-talked-about standalone dating all the way back to 2010. Australian filmmaker Cate Shortland will direct from a script written by Jac Shaeffer. Production is expected to kick off in June with an expected release in 2020.
Stay tuned as it appears things are just starting to heat up!
