'Shameless' Gets Renewed for Season 8
Showtime has given the all clear for Shameless to get going on an eighth season, beginning production in May 2017 for a fall premiere. The new season will consist of 12 episodes.
It comes just a day after season 7 came to an end, with a post-credits scene teasing the future of the series. It's Showtime's longest-running original scripted series and saw a boost in viewership in season 7.
Emmy Rossum contract negotiations saw a holdup in the renewal process, as she sought after equal pay matching co-star William H. Macy. Warner Bros. has agreed to a new contract.
