Steven Spielberg Adamant that Indiana Jones Will Never be Recast
Indiana Jones producer Frank Marshall recently voiced that there are no plans to recast Harrison Ford's iconic Indiana Jones role.
Steven Spielberg has weighed in, stating that "I don't think anyone could replace Harrison as Indy, I don't think that's ever going to happen.
"It's certainly not my intention to ever have another actor step into his shoes int he way there have been many actors that have played Spider-Man or Batman. There is only going to be one actor playing Indiana Jones and that's Harrison Ford."
On why Spielberg is intent on a fourth sequel to a series that hit a definitive low point with the previous film, the director said "because there are more adventures out there than films. So as long as there's more adventures out there, I've got a bullwhip, a fedora, a leather jacket, and a man on a horse who knows how to get the job done."
What we can be sure of is that an Indiana Jones 5 is coming (or at least that's the intention). What we can't be sure of is the future of franchise beyond Harrison Ford. Spielberg's word carries a lot of weight, but if the studio wants to recast Indiana Jones, then surely they'd do just that.
