'12 Monkeys' Gets a Season 3 Renewal at Syfy
12 Monkeys has been critically successful, if not as popular ratings-wise as Syfy would hope. Nevertheless, the series has been given a third season renewal, rewarded faith for both the show and its cult following, with a ten-episode order.
"Syfy and UCP have been incredible creative partners, and I’m thrilled that we are going to tell the next — even more twisty and emotional — chapter of this time travel adventure," executive producer Terry Matalas told EW in the announcement.
Thirteen episodes were given for the first two seasons, so that orders been shortened. In any case, the show has a chance to move forward with its story.
“This season of 12 Monkeys has proven to be a breakthrough,” Jeff Wachtel, chief content officer of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment and president of Universal Cable Productions said to EW. “From its epic storytelling to its grand aesthetic, Terry and the cast and crew have invested boundless energy and passion, and it showed. New legions of fans will discover what devoted viewers already know: It’s one of the best shows on television.”
With a two-part finale still to come for season two, the show's third season will premiere in 2017.
