A New 'Oliver Twist' Musical Retelling On the Way with Ice Cube and 'Hamilton' Director
Disney has joined up with Ice Cube and Tommy Kail (director of Hamilton) to create a new, contemporary retelling of Charles Dickens classic tale.
The musical will be produced by Cube alongside Jeff Kwantinetz and Marc Platt. It marks the latest adaptation of a Dickens story, and is the first of note since Roman Polanski's Incarnation in 2005.
The film will be a modernized musical that will be "crossing many genres, including hip-hop," reports THR. Cube will play Fagin, the antagonistic crook who recruits Oliver into a gang of pickpocketers.
