ABC Cancels Marvel's 'Agent Carter'
ABC has cancelled Marvel's TV series Agent Carter after two seasons, bringing an end to Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter. The character sees an end in more ways than one, given events in Captain America: Civil War.
The spin-off was created by Civil War and Winter Soldier screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and was a breath of fresh air for fans following Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s less than stellar beginnings.
The series focused on Agent Carter balancing her life as a secret agent in the 1940s, with Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark and James D'Arcy as Jarvis at times supporting her. The events took place after Captain America: The First Avenger, which left the character in a rather tragic hole following the apparent demise of the Cap himself.
Critically, the show began turning around, though not enough apparently, following its shaky opening season.
