Adam West Talks Clash of Idols When Batman Takes on William Shatner as Two Face
Speaking with Comicbook.com, Adam West couldn't contain his excitement at a Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders sequel, with William Shatner set to voice the iconic Two-Face character, who never made an official appearance in the 60s series.
"Two idols clash!" West said, and much of the conversation referred to West and Shatner as 60s idols just as much as the characters are in the comic-book-reading fraternity.
"That's kind of interesting. I didn't think of that, but you're right," he said of the similar style of line delivery from the two legends. "I mean, I developed kind of a rhythm or a cadence for Batman that included a lot of musing, and thinking, and then suddenly getting an answer somehow.
"'Oh, let's check that scope again... There it is, Robin!' That kind of thing, which I sort of felt the kids ... When you go out and play Batman as a kid, you sort of talk that way. Sort of enthusiastic, and with the rhythms being different."
"It's fun to play Batman, especially with Shatner. He's got a good sense of humor, and we're on the same level," West said. He confirmed that his lines have already been recorded for the sequel, but the two actors recorded separately.
The first film is out on Blu-ray on November 1, and is out now on Digital HD. The sequel will arrive in 2017.
