Alejandro Gonzalez on Why he Won't Return to Another Project like The Revenant
Pinned as a brutal and punishing film, a cinematic masterpiece by some, highly anticipated by film lovers all over, The Revenant is lining itself up for some gold come award season.
After winning the best director Oscar at last years ceremony for Birdman, Alejandro Gonzalez and looking at going two for two, but the director will not return to this kind of story again in the future.
"There was no one day or scene or molecule of this film that literally didn't cost a lot," Gonzalez said. "It was such an ambitious project. It's scary when you have that dream that is big and everything was set to fail. So, yes, I couldn't be more proud, more surprised, more shocked that we finished, that I survived.
"But I will never do it again. Because I am a crazy man, but not stupid. It [was] once in a lifetime, but that's it."
Much has been talked about regarding the conditions during filming, battling against the elements and against worn down crew members. Many stories have surfaced that it would be a surprise not to see a book or documentary made on the production itself. DiCaprio claims the film as the "toughest he's ever made".
