Hello Amazon Prime subscribers! October brings a new slate of film and television streams - some new, some old. Among the highlights:
Pilgrimage, Jon Bernthal and Tom Holland star as 13th century Irish monks who embark on a reluctant and dangerous pilgrimage to escort their monastery's holiest relic to Rome. (October 3)
Michael Crichton's original sci-fi Westworld (1973) envisions a futuristic theme park where paying guests can pretend to be gunslingers in an artificial Wild West populated by androids. (October 11)
Picking up after season 2's cliffhanger, Mr. Robot Season 3 will see Elliot bounce back and fighting against the people who have been using him, all while sorting his next steps after learning about Mr. Robot’s phase 2. (October 12)
Based on a popular horror podcast, Amazon's anthology series Lore: season 1 will deliver six separate stories, each one inspired by real people and events that have led to our modern-day myths (October 13)
Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock's under-seen, time-looping romance The Lake House deserves some love. It's also a [personal] 'Top 5' Keanu Reeves film. As Roger Ebert stated in his 3.5/4 star review: "The Lake House tells the story of a romance that spans years but involves only a few kisses. It succeeds despite being based on two paradoxes: time travel, and the ability of two people to have conversations that are, under the terms established by the film, impossible. Neither one of these problems bothered me in the slightest. Take time travel: I used to get distracted by its logical flaws and contradictory time lines. Now in my wisdom I have decided to simply accept it as a premise, no questions asked. A time travel story works on emotional, not temporal, logic." - Stay to the exciting end!
Last but not least Jack, Wendy, and Danny head to the Overlook Hotel in Stanley Kubrick's 1980 classic The Shining on October 28.
