AMC Dates 'Preacher' for May 22 Premiere
AMC has announced from SXSW festival that their upcoming comic book adaptation Preacher will premiere on Sunday, May 22, following the mid-season finale of Fear the Walking Dead.
The show will gift an encore to viewers the following Sunday, and will air back-to-back episodes beginning at 9 PM ET/PT to offer new viewers a chance to catch up over the holiday weekend. The show will return on June 5th at the regular time of 9PM.
Based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's popular 90's comic book of the same name, Preacher is a supernatural dark comedy, following Texas preacher Jesse Custer, who inhabits a mysterious entity that gifts him the word of god. He, along with his girlfriend and an Irish vampire journey the world and encounter all kinds of strange and powerful characters in Jesse's search for God.
Season one will run for ten-episodes, and was developed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. It is executive produced by Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad), who also acts as showrunner.
