AMC's Newest Drama 'Preacher' Premieres to Modest Numbers, 'Fear the Walking Dead' on Par
While three-day ratings haven't yet been released for AMC's new western-flavoured drama Preacher, the series has opened to favourable but not groundbreaking numbers as it took on some high-profile programming on Sunday.
Nielsen has recorded a 0.9 rating in adults 18049 and 2.4 million viewers overall in live plus same-day estimates. The numbers aren't high, but it becomes the second biggest scripted debutante of 2016 on ad-supported cable, behind only The People v. O.J. Simpson.
The episode will re-run in the show's regular 9PM time-slot next week following its 10PM premiere last Sunday, which aired after Fear the Walking Dead's mid-season finale. The following week will see the series continue with its second episode.
'Fear' saw an average of 1.9 ratings sin adults 18-49 and 4.4 million total viewers, which is standard fair and on par with the previous week's numbers. The show goes up against Game of Thrones, which is no mean feat, and Nielsen estimates have it increasing by 50% from same day to live plus-3 estimates.
