American Gods Premiere Gains Former Hannibal Director

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Despite the recent end to the short-lived 'Hannibal', Bryan Fuller is not sulking in a corner over the loss of the beloved series. In fact, he's working hard on a TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman's novel 'American Gods'.

And now the series has gained for its premiere former 'Hannibal' director David Slade.

Fuller is the showrunner alongside Michael Green. Neil Gaiman is helping in the writer's room to bring his literary world to the small screen.

Slade was a longtime executive producer on 'Hannibal' and also directed that series' pilot. He is also onboard again as one of the main executive producers. Outside of his collaborations with Fuller, Slade has worked on the Breaking Bad episode "Open House".

The new Starz series is not expected to premiere until late 2016 to early 2017, but read below for an official plot description:

:[American Gods] posits a war brewing between old and new gods: the traditional gods of biblical and mythological roots from around the world steadily losing believers to an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs. Its protagonist, Shadow Moon, is an ex-con who becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to Mr. Wednesday, a conman but in reality one of the older gods, on a cross-country mission to gather his forces in preparation to battle the new deities.
