'American Horror Story,' 'Feud' Creator Ryan Murphy Developing Another Series for FX
Ryan Murphy is at the top of a growing number of FX series, and has quickly become something of a shepherd for anthology television at least at that network. It's a format I adore, and with American Horror Story, American Crime Story, and Feud behind him, it looks like he does too.
The series, titled Pose, is a period piece set in the mid-80s in New York, and will examine the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in Manhattan: the emergence of the luxury Trump-era universe, the ball culture world, and downtown social and literary scene.
Co-written alongside Brad Falchuk, Murphy will direct the pilot should the series get the greenlight. Casting is underway, and Deadline reports that the series already has been given an order at FX for a 2018 debut. Variety, however, reports that there is no greenlight at this point.
It's hard to imagine the network will turn down the series. American Horror Story has become a staple for the network, though interestingly it may be panning out as Murphy's weakest series. The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story was a stunning examination of a true crime event, and the next season (about Hurricane Katrina) is a curious choice to say the least. So too, Feud has recently debuted, and if the first two episodes are any indication, Murphy has hit another winner.
American Crime Story has two seasons in development for 2018 release, with both Katrina and Versace. There's also a concept already in development for a fourth season. Feud has been renewed for season 2, to focus on Charles and Diana. Not to mention, American Horror Story has been renewed through to season 9.
