Ang Lee Turns Down Directing Offer for 'Mulan' Remake
Disney's Mulan live-action remake is set for 2018, and the studio is seeking out an Asian filmmaker to lead the ship. There first attempt has fallen through though, as Ang Lee has turned down the opportunity.
Sony, meanwhile, also has a Mulan picture in the works, in a strange age where competing studios do have a hold of shared properties with which they're free to work with (see: Jungle Book: Origins).
There is no word on why Lee turned down the film ,though he's got a pretty extensive schedule. A global search will soon be underway for a Chinese lead actress and love interest.
The film will arrive in 3D on November 2, 2018.
