'Bates Motel' to End After Five Seasons, Rihanna to Play Iconic 'Psycho' Role
Executive producers have announced that Bates Motel will be coming to an end at the conclusion of its upcoming fifth season, revealed during their panel at comic-con.
Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin have been very vocal about their intent to end the series on their own terms. “From the end of the first season, Carlton and I both had the exact same instinct of five seasons.” Ehrin promises that there is an endgame, and it will satisfy. "Emotionallyy, yes, a very specific one. I will say it's beautiful."
The contemporary prequel to Psycho will feature Rihanna as Marion Crane. “We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way. We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate."
