'Battlefield' Video Game Franchise Getting Adapted for Television
The war simulation video game franchise, Battlefield, is headed to television, according to Deadline.
The first-person shooter series pits players against one another in a primarily multiplayer experience in locales inspired by World War II and Vietnam, as well as designed fictional conflicts between nations such as the U.S. and Russia.
Paramount Television and Anonymous Content are adapating the series, though no network is attached at this stage.
"EA's Battlefield has an incredibly dynamic narrative, coupled with a loyal fan base, which will allow us to bring this exciting and unique property to the small screen," said Paramount TV president Amy Powell.
This isn't the first time the franchise has been optioned for TV, following Fox's attempt at adapting Battlefield: Bad Companyy in 2012. That was never picked up to series.
