Ben Mendelsohn on Director Krennic's Hostile Relationship with Darth Vader in 'Rogue One'
Ben Mendelsohn is set to pay Director Orson Krennic in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, a villain who many will know little about until they sit down in the theater on December 16.
Krennic is, however, in charge of the Special Weapons division for the Galactic Empire. That puts him at the fore of the Death Star project, with the ability to wipe out entire planets with a button. The iconic Darth Vader isn't exactly going to take this, given his love and devotion of the Force.
"It's fair to say Lord Vader and [Krennic] aren't friendly," Mendelsohn told Empire Magazine. "Darth is very much about the Force. Krennic is force - not really down with the whole mystical thing."
"He is truly a man that has made his own way up the chain through his own abilities," Mendelsohn said of Krennic. "His weapon, for instance, is a very old type of blaster, because he's an old warrior duded. He's been put in charage of making this thing happen. And it's gonna get done!"
The clash between the two will be interesting, but hardly front and center in the film. Expect Krennic to be pretty dislikable, and make his defeat all the more enjoyable (hopefully.)
