Benedict Cumberbatch to voice the Grinch in the Upcoming Dr. Seuss Animated Adaptation
Benedict Cumberbatch will voice the Grinch in Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas, a new animated take on the children's story. The casting was announced at CinemaCon by Universal on Wednesday night.
The film is due in theaters November 17, 2017, and will be directed by Pete Candeland. The same animation studio handled the recent Dr. Seuss remake The Lorax.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas has seen itself adapted for an animated TV special and a live-action feature film in 2000, which starred Jim Carrey. This will be the first big screen animated iteration of the classic tale.
Cumberbatch is keeping his schedule chock-full, and will be seen next in Dr. Stange. He is currently filming the fourth season of Sherlock.
