Bernard Herrmann

Bernard Herrmann is one of the few genius composers to have ever worked in the business. He’s the man who created the famous shrieking violins of Psycho and the catchy whistling in Twisted Nerve. He built his reputation on being one of the most original and distinctive composers, leading him to work with some of Hollywood’s leading directors such as Alfred Hitchcock and Martin Scorsese. He started creating music at an early age, winning a composition prize at the tender age of 13 and by age 20, he’d founded his own orchestra. Herrmann was a truly gifted composer and his untimely death in 1975, was a substantial loss for the film industry.
