Bruce Dern seems to be in the lead seat with his performance being hailed by critics and Joaquin Phoenix could earn himself a second consecutive Best Actor nomination— but from now until January 16th anything could happen.
If that proverbially curve ball is thrown, Idris Elba may well see himself gain an advantage over the rest. That would go very well with his Golden Globe nomination.
