BlacKkKlansman's John David Washington will star in Christopher Nolan's next "event film"
Christopher Nolan’s next film may be shrouded in complete mystery but that’s not going to stop us from geeking out about this latest casting news!
Variety reports the 34-year-old rising star (and son of a legend) John David Washington has been tapped to star in Nolan’s next “event film”!
Sources say Washington’s role had become “one of the more highly coveted” roles in town despite most of Hollywood being kept in the dark about casting, let alone actual plot details. Additionally, Variety’s insider shares Nolan’s pic will be a “massive, innovative, and action blockbuster”. Which, in four short words sorta refutes Production Weekly’s recent synopsis describing Nolan’s pic as a "romantic thriller." Sure, Nolan could very well infuse massive, innovative, and action-oriented into an Inception meets North by Northwest crossover pic. However, another insider close to IGN has also come out saying information provided by Production Weekly was inaccurate. So much for getting your Production Weekly money’s worth!
Warner Bros. has pegged a July 17, 2020 IMAX release with production scheduled to begin filming in June. Additionally, Nolan will be re-teaming with IMAX camera and DoP maestro, Hoyte van Hoytema. With Washington now on board, expect to hear additional casting news within the coming weeks.
