Brian Cox Voices Regret Over Turning Down 'Game of Thrones'
English actor Brian Cox has come out to reveal that he turned down a role in HBO's megahit Game of Thrones back in its earlier days, and to this day regrets it.
Speaking with Vodzilla, Cox revealed the offer but not the part, and since becoming a fan of the show himself, he's openly regretful. "Well, stupidly, I turned it down in the early days because they didn’t pay enough money. Now they have more money. And I was silly. I was silly, it was silly, because I’m a complete addict now.
" But I don’t know what I could play. Maybe I could do – I mean, I just watched my friend Ian McShane, and I thought, ‘Ooh, Ian’s in it’, so I settled down to watch him. And I thought, ‘Ian did that?’ and immediately I thought, ‘God, they must have paid him well’, because I know Ian!"
Cox has watched other friends Charles Dance, Clive Russell, and Liam Cunningham all weave in and out of the series, which couldn't mend the feeling that he's missed out on a good gig.
Cox played key roles in Deadwood and Penny Dreadful.
