Bryan Singer Confirms FX's 'Legion' will Connect to the X-Men Film Franchise
Noah Hawley has been on record stating that his upcoming Legion series would not necessarily connect with the larger X-Men world. Bryan Singer, though, the man at the forefront of a number of the X-Men franchise films and an EP on Legion, has said that it will.
THR reports that “Singer discussed Legion, which he is executive producing for FX, saying it is designed to be a series that is “part of the X-Men universe, but when you watched it, you wouldn’t have to label it, it could exist completely on its own.”
"He said it and another planned X-Men series “will relate to future X-Men movies.” And he added it would feature a “really ambitious and fun and very unique storyline.”
Hawley's approach is apparently one of "a little more of a fable in my mind," so perhaps there's a difference in viewpoint behind this thing, which could be disastrous. That being said, it could also be a minor thing, and Hawley, as creator, is well within his rights to design this in the way he sees fit.
The series is expected to debut early 2017.
