"Bumblebee" Spinoff Set For June 8, 2018
The first Transformers spinoff will focus on Bumblebee. Bumblebee was one of the most popular autobots from the original animated series and one of the more popular Transformers toy sellers and that popularity has translated into the movies.
On the topic of expanding the Transformers movie universe, Paramount Pictures chairman and CEO Brad Grey had this to say: "There are characters in the Transformers universe that can be and should be made into their own movies. We will make the first movie with Michael and go right into a Bumblebee movie, which will be at a lower cost."
Grey went on to talk about the creative process behind expanding this universe. "We’ve brought in a pretty strong writing staff run by Akiva Goldsman, and they have put together eight or nine interesting stories. So, between that group and Steven Spielberg’s guidance on a story level, these characters are a big business for us to pursue."
It will be interesting to see if a voice actor is cast as Bumblebee has only been able to talk through FM radio in the previous four movies.
