Cailee Spaeny Joins 'Pacific Rim' in Female Lead Role
Pacific Rim: Maelstrom continues casting, and next up is the leading lady for the picture. Cailee Spaeny, a young American actress and singer, is set to star opposite John Boyega in the sequel.
Boyega plays the son of the ill=fated Idris Elba character in the first film. Scott Eastwood is also set to star with Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight taking directing duties from Guillermo del Toro.
None of the film's original cast is confirmed for a return. Recently, Charlie Hunnam confirmed he would not be back. Spaeny, meanwhile, gets a breakout opportunity here after only appearing in the one film thus far, an indie thriller Counting to 1,000.
