Call of Duty Film and Skylanders TV series on the Way
If you'd thought the Call of Duty franchise had run its course in the gaming world, this news is sure to stir you up. With the release of Blizzard Entertainment's Warcraft trailer, it's been revealed that their sights are set on the future just as much as the present.
The larger, parent company Activision Blizzard, has announced the creation of Activision Blizzard studios, set to bring some of their top tier gaming franchises to the big screen.
One such franchise is Call of Duty, which many have forever been skeptical toward due to its average campaign mode since earlier installments.
The Skylanders TV series will be an animated one, titled Skylanders Academy. The game takes place in a world called Skylands, and consists of floating islands that house its characters. The worlds are protected by a group of heroes called the skylanders.
Regarding Call of Duty, the studio's co-president Nick Van Dyk said that the intent is to create a "robust cinematic universe based on the Call of Duty franchise".
While it's a bit forward to consider an expanded universe before the first film has even been green lit, that's pretty much the way of it these days. And with the flood of videogame adaptations today, this shouldn't come as a huge surprise to anybody.
