Capri Hollywood Festival Names 'La La Land' the Best Film of the Year
La La Land has been given the top honour at the Capri Hollywood International Film Festival. The Italian festival, in its 21st year, named the musical romance the best film of the year.
Founder and producer Pascal Vicedomini announced the victor. The film was directed by Damien Chazelle and starred Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. It earned six trophies, including Best Actress, Best Ensemble Cast, Best Photography, Best Score, and Best Song.
Lion and Hacksaw Ridge earned five award each, with the latter earning Best Drama, Best Director for Mel Gibson, Best Editor, Best Producer, and Best Actor. That award, Andrew Garfield shared with Michael Keaton, who earned it for The Founder. Manchester by the Sea earned Best Screenplay.
“This was an extraordinary edition for the quality of the artists who attended and the variety of works presented,” said Vicedomini in a statement. “I’m positive that most of our award winners will go on to be honored at the Golden Globes and the Oscars. Best wishes to everyone and see you at the 22nd edition of Capri, Hollywood.”
