Captain America Star Chris Evans Explains Why he Nearly Turned Down the Role
Recently, Chris Evans said that what Marvel has done can't be copied. He also proclaimed that there "has never been an ensemble like this in cinematic history."
"We had to break up into two panels today because everyone is a headline," the star said. Evans said on Jimmy Kimmel Live that there was a time when the role was far from on the top of his wishlist, given the enormity of the commitment.
"At first, it was some nine-picture contract... Doing movies one at a time, if all of a sudden you decide you don't want to do them anymore, you're afforded the opportunity to take a step back and recalibrate. When you have a giant contnract, all of a sudden, you're not responding well? Too bad. You gotta suit up again. That was scary."
It's an honest account, and one that certainly sounds daunting. Ultimately, he seems to have made the right choice both for himself and for Marvel fans worldwide.
