Carrie Fisher Dies at Age 60
Following the heart attack suffered on an airplane flight from London to Los Angeles on Friday, Carrie Fisher has passed away at the age of 60 this morning. Her family confirmed the tragic news, and the iconic actress and author is now being mourned all through Hollywood.
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” family spokesman Simon Halls tells People. “She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
Known for her iconic role as Princess Leia and debuting in Star Wars: A New Hope, she has also starred in films such as Hannah and Her Sisters, Shampoo, and The Blues Brothers. She was also a popular author.
Fisher reprised her role as Leia in last year's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and was recently touring her memoir The Princess, featuring the diary from her days involved in the original Star Wars trilogy.
