Casting Continues for 'American Gods' as Omid Abtahi joins Starz Series
Despite production well and truly underway, a new casting has been made, with Omid Abtahi cast in Starz's upcoming straight-to-series adaptation of Neil Gaiman's acclaimed fantasy novel.
Filming is currently taking place in Toronto, and Abtahi will be a recurring player in the opening season with the opportunity to be promoted to series regular come season 2. He plays Salim, a sweet, sad, and put-upon foreigner who is one half of a pair of star-crossed lovers.
The series details the coming war between the new gods and the old. The new gods represent society's modern vices, consisting of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs, and the old, traditional gods of myth are losing their believers to the new pantheon.
Ricky Whittle stars as Shadow Moon, an ex-con who becomes a body guard and companion to Mr. Wednesday, playedy Ian McShane.
