Catch Up or Re-Indulge in All the Trailers Unveiled at the Warner Bros. Panel SDCC
Warner Bros. took over Hall H at Comic-Con to deliver an enormous slew of new footage for their biggest films lined up over the next year. While most of it is DC Comics properties, Kong: Skull Island and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them both had fantastic debut trailers to ensure that the studio has more than just capes and cowls up its sleeve.
"Wonder Woman" - First Trailer
We got our first look at Wonder Woman, accompanied by Steve Trevor for much of the footage. Gal Gadot and Chris Pine steal the screen with this action-packed and intriguing introduction to the Amazonian, post-WWI DCEU world. While origin stories are becoming pretty tiresome, this one looks like it'll have plenty of energy to keep us glued to the screen. Out June 2, 2017.
First Look at "Justice League"
Zack Snyder made a special appearance at the panel, and assembled the cast that makes up the Justice League along with him (including a not-so-dead Henry Cavill). The footage debuted is taken from very little, given the film is only two months or so into production. Nevertheless, it features Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) assembling the Justice League and shows off a renewed sense of hope following the events of Batman v Superman. Jason Momoa steals the show as Aquaman, and that character promises to be perhaps the most fascinating inclusion in the League. Arrives November 17, 2017.
Final Trailer for "Suicide Squad"
Not a foot has been put wrong in the lead-up to Suicide Squad's arrival on August 5, and this final trailer does everything right. While so little new footage has featured in all of the trailers so far, including this (for the most part), they've been masterfully put together so that, remarkably, each one feels fresh and new. Perhaps that stems from the film itself, which David Ayer describes as an attempt to create a living, breathing comic book on the big screen. Reception has been glowing so far, so expect plenty of occupied seats in just over a week's time.
"The Lego Batman Movie" Offers Up a Hilarious First Trailer
Despite two teasers coming earlier than expect this year, we've got our first full trailer for The Lego Batman Movie, spinning off from the events of The Lego Movie. And it is hilarious. Introducing a particularly adorable Robin, this rendition of Batman is sassy, over-confident, and then at times sincerely caring (though that's less often), but from what we've seen this looks like a snappy, quickly paced journey into a blocky new Gotham. In theaters February 10, 2017.
"Kong: Skull Island" First Trailer Drops
Now that DC is out of the way, having completely stolen the SDCC show up to that point, Kong: Skull Island received some love when the first trailer for the monster thriller beckoned. And it's a frightening, promising first look filled with eerie set-pieces and a pretty stellar cast. While it's certainly the most understated of Warner Bros.' offerings, it's still one to look out for. Out March 10, 2017.
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" New, Plot-Heavy Trailer
And to round out proceedings, we have the next chapter in the Harry Potter saga, a spin-off set years before Voldemort's reign of terror. And with the second trailer for the film, which arrives in November, we get our clearest picture of the plot so far. There's plenty familiar in the trailer, and almost just as much that's new and fascinating. Whatever the case, this looks like a pretty stellar new trip into the Wizarding World, set to attract fans new and old and welcome this franchise into the next generation of film. Out November 18, 2016.
