CBS may have kept 'Supergirl' if CW deal fell through
Supergirl's move from CBS to The CW seems a logical step despite the overcrowding going on in the CW's slate. While the decision seems to have been based off of costing issues that meant CBS couldn't logically maintain the series budgets (licensing fees have been noted, causing conflict with Warner Bros.), the network may have kept the property had The CW deal fallen through.
“It’s great to own two networks,” he said. “Supergirl fits better on the CW," said CBS boss Leslie Moonves, praising CBS' partnership with Warner Bros., as well as his relationship with CEO Kevin Tsujihara.
“If they didn’t go there, we would’ve probably taken it back,” Moonves said. Talks on the Supergirl move to The CW went on for a month before a decision was made. CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller reiterated during a morning press briefing.
“It’s a win-win since we co-own the CW,’ he said. “We worked out great deal. And who would say we wouldn’t have picked it up had it not gone to the CW.
