Charlie Plummer Cast in the Lead for Andrew Haigh's 'Lean on Pete'
Charlie Plummer has been cast as the lead in Andrew Haigh's Lean on Pete, which already has Steve Buscemi attached as the character Del.
Plummer will play Charley Thompson, a teen abandoned by his mother as a baby who loses his neglectful father to sepsis in the film. The film is adapted from Willy Vlautin's acclaimed novel about Charley on a perilous journey in search of his long-lost aunt and a home, with his only companion a racehorse called Lean on Pete.
Plummer made a name for himself in King Jack in 2015, and has recently wrapped filming on The Dinner and Behold my Heart. Haigh is coming off the Oscar-nominated 45 Years, which was awarded the best British/Irish film of 2015 at the London Critics' Circle Awards.
