Chris Hemsworth on Returning to Home Soil for Thor: Ragnarok
Thor: Ragnarok is set to begin filming later this year, and will be taking star Chris Hemsworth back to his homeland of Australia as its primary location.
Hemsworth actually campaigned for the opportunity to take the film down home. "When we had an opportunity to talk about where it was gonna be shot, I said, 'Why can't it be Australia?' They went, 'Oh, well, it's a long way,' and so on but I kept pushing it along and that became a bigger and bigger conversation and it landed here."
"I couldn't be happier. For me, living up near the Gold Coast, as well, to be home shooting is huge but a lot of my friends are gonna be on that production. People I've known for years."
The actor probably deserves a homecoming. Thor: Ragnarok opens November 3, 2017.
