Christian Bale Stars in Michael Mann's Ferrari Movie
Filmmaker Michael Mann is currently gearing up for his next project, a movie about the Italian racer and auto magnate Enzo Ferrari, with Christian Bale in the lead role.
The project has been in the works for 15 years and is based on the 1991 book Enzo Ferrari: The Man, The Cars, The Races, The Machines by Brock Yates. Troy Kennedy-Martin adapted it for screen with some re-writes by Mann and David Rayfiel. The movie, titled “Enzo Ferrari’, will take place in 1957 - a crucial year in Ferrari’s life as he faces challenges for his survival. It will also take a closer look at his personal and passionate life.
Noomi Rapace is currently in talks to join the cast. If a deal is reached, she would play opposite Bale as Ferrari’s wife, Laura Dominica.
This would be the second collaboration between Mann and Bale. In 2009 Bale portrayed FBI agent Melvyn Purvis in Michael Mann's 'Public Enemy'.
Filming for Enzo Ferrari is expected to begin in Italy in summer 2016.
