Christoph Waltz will Reprise Villainous Role in Bond, so Long as Daniel Craig Returns
Spectre is widely regarded as a let down, and yet many still consider Christoph Waltz turn as Ernst Stavro Blofeld as a highlight. According to numerous UK tabloids and news sites, Waltz has declared his interest in returning, but only if Craig does too.
His reason given, according to sources, is to maintain 'continuity' in the franchise. Funnily enough, the Bond franchise isn't exactly the greatest example of continuity. Though as an actor highly regarded and praised, Waltz can comfortably dictate his own decision on whether he'd return or not (of course, his character has to make it into the script first).
Any eagerness behind the return of the villain largely revolves around Craig returning, and it's also perhaps an eagerness driven by anticipation and story potential. But story potential is something Spectre fell short on using the villain the first time, so what makes us think a second chance will help?
Craig has failed to give a clear indication of whether he will return to the role, swaying on both ends of the scales on his opinion of the role and his place in it. For now, Spectre will have to do (or the 23 others). The latest Bond outing hits shelves on February 9.
