Christopher Nolan's Next Film Reportedly a WWII Tale Set in France
Details are beginning to surface, it seems, for Christopher Nolan's next, heavily speculated on, project. Reports from French publication La Voix Du Nord, Nolan is preparing a WWII story inspired by Operation Dynamo.
Operation Dynamo was the incredible evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force and other Allied troops from the French seaport of Dunkirk. The event took place from May to June in 1940. The operation was sanctioned when heavy numbers of Belgian, British and French troops were surrounded by the German army during the Battle of France.
Tarantino name-dropped Nolan in his recent talks on 70mm projection as one of a handful of particular directors that would be taking advantage of 70mm installations in those 100 cinemas that made the deal with The Weinstein Company.
Mayor of Dunkirk Patrice Vergriete recently announced the filming of an American blockbuster that would be taking place in June of 2016. He proclaimed it as a project by "a world-famous director". The publication, La Voix Du, report that their sources claim the director is Nolan.
The Nolan brothers have been sighted in Dunkirk, learning about the area and the history, and it seems their scouting out potential locations. While there is no guarantee behind these reports, they certainly seem promising.
Nolan's as-yet-unnamed project is set to open on July 21, 2017.
