CW Properties 'Arrow,' 'The Flash' and More May Arrive on Netflix Sooner Rather Than Later
Variety is reporting that Netflix and The CW are closing in on a deal that will see The CW's scripted series reach the streaming service at a speedier rate.
Under the new deal, the shows would become available just two weeks after each season comes to an end on The CW, making it the "closest window Netflix has ever secured to the in-season period for primetime entertainment series."
The CW and Hulu had a long-running deal from 201 that came to an end when renegotiations fell through, so Netflix has taken their chance and is looking to deepen its relationship with the network.
"The limited access to episodes was the big sticking point for Hulu, which is said to have pushed CW to offer full stacking rights on its Hulu service as a condition of renewing the deal. Hulu and CW parent companies CBS and Warner Bros. negotiated on and off for months but late last week the sides formally ended the discussions. The existing deal is believed to expire in early October," Variety reported.
Expect finalised details on the CW-Netflix deal later this week.
