Daisy Ridley shuts down one popular Fan Theory for 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story'
Fans have been all over the introductory trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and based on the trailer it seems The Force Awakens won't have been a fluke, and the franchise really is renewing its level of quality.
But a popular fan theory surfaced from the trailer, suggesting that leading lady Jyn Erso, played by Felicity Jones, maybe the mother of new Jedi prodigy Rey, played by Daisy Ridley.
Apart from skin colour and accent, there wasn't much given to suggest this was the case, but fans got behind the prospect of Jyn having had a child some time between A New Hope and The Force Awakens.
And while the theory built up some steam, Ridley herself has debunked it entirely. Speaking at the MTV Awards, Ridley said that "I'm not being funny, you guys, but just because she's white and got brown hair... it doesn't mean she's my mum."
She adds some sincerity to her answer, following with this: “I think the amazing thing about [The Force Awakens] is that Finn and Rey don’t come from anywhere, and they find a place. So to me, it’s funny that people think it’s so important, because I don’t really think it is.”
It's anyone's guess where the connection is, but maybe there is none? That'd be a whole lot more fun than a shoehorned thread being connected on one big family tree.
