Danny Boyle's FX Anthology Series is Headed into Production
FX is moving the ten episode first season of Trust, FX's Getty family series, into production in June, with filming in London and Rome, for a January 2018 premiere.
“We’re thrilled to begin production on ‘Trust,’” said FX Networks CEO John Landgraf. “The scripts from Simon Beaufoy are fantastic; surprising, nuanced, funny. They give Danny Boyle so much to work with. We appreciate everything that they, Christian Colson and all of our producing partners have done that will help make ‘Trust’ a show that is certain make the Platinum Age of television even a little weightier.”
The first season is set in 1973, and follows a young John Paul Getty III when he is kidnapped in Rome and his mafia captors bank on a multi-million dollar ransom. When nobody seems to want their captive back, things turn into a nightmare. The Italian police think it's a prank and don't investigate further, Paul's father is drug-addled and refuses to answer the phone back in London, and Paul's Grandfather (possibly the richest man in the world) is marooned in a mansion in the English countryside surrounded by five mistresses and a pet lion.
There is no casting news just yet. The anthology was ordered back in March last year, and comes from executive producers Danny Boyle, Simon Beaufoy and Christian Colson. It's written by Beaufoy and directed by Boyle.
